Each year the Outdoor Show Foundation uses proceeds of the show to support the community in various ways. Since 1984, we have provided the following enhancements to the South Dorchester Pre-K-8; a public address system, an enlarged parking lot, $2350 for the purchase of library books, U.S. and Maryland Flags for the auditorium, landscape improvements, a commercial microwave oven, a new antenna with additional amplifers to enhance television reception to all classrooms, an unpdated wiring system to faliciate the use of video equipment such that videos can be viewed individually in any classroom or simultaneously throughout all classrooms, $3200 for the purchase of tradebooks, computer materials, and audio-visuals, and $300 for the purchase of kitchen equipment. For 9 years bulletin board contest were conducted and prizes were awarded to each class. The sidewalk from the PTA shed to the auditorium and the sidewalk from the auditorium to the outside sheds were also donated. The new light in the teacher's parking lot and the new light over the PTA shed were also donated. The most recent donation was two computers for the computer lab. Since 1992, educational scholarships of $1500 were awarded to Miss Outdoors $750 to the 1st Runner Up and $500 to the 2nd Runner Up. These monies are sent directly to the educational institutions. In addition, we have contributed to the South Dorchester Jaycees, MAC Inc., Dorchester County Commission on Aging, United States Coast Guard Auxiliary Flotilla 4-8 for educational material, all Dorchester County Volunteer Fire Companies, Y.M.C.A Pool Fund, Dorchester Senior Center Inc., Cambridge Christmas Parade, as well as repairing the roof and installing a heating system at Crapo School. We also donated money for CSD's Wresltling team's warm up suits and Band Uniforms.
